Our District is one of the most
attractive and historic parts of Essex. The majority of the
District is rural with high quality landscape, green spaces, over
3,000 listed buildings and 39 conservation areas.
Consultations show that our environment is very important to us in
making somewhere a good place to live.
The Community Priorities for this Theme have been
assessed through research and consultation to help address these
issues for the District.
The Community Priorities are:
- To reduce the amount of waste being land-filled
by reducing waste and increasing the amount of recycling and
composting
- To ensure high standards of cleanliness and to
maintain the appearance of the District
- To protect and enhance its
biodiversity
- To respond to climate change
- To reduce our carbon footprints
We are working towards achieving these priorities
in a variety of ways and will monitor progress using national and
local indicators and regular progress reports to the LSP’s Steering
Group.
